At the 2026 World Power Battery Conference, Xiong Jijun, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), emphasized that the global automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation. China's power battery sector stands at a pivotal juncture, poised to enhance quality and efficiency while consolidating its competitive edge. Looking ahead, the MIIT will bolster standards-driven development by expediting the creation of benchmarks for power battery safety, durability, carbon footprint, recycling, and other key areas. This includes aligning the standard framework with international best practices and intensifying enforcement and verification efforts to elevate product quality and market competitiveness through improved standards.

Concurrently, the MIIT will refine the competitive landscape, tighten industry oversight, and establish dynamic production capacity early warning systems. It will initiate quality enhancement programs, reinforce product consistency and quality control, rigorously enforce quality and safety regulations, and discourage cut-throat pricing and unchecked production capacity expansion [Note: 'unchecked production capacity expansion' is a more idiomatic way to convey 'blind production capacity expansion'].
