According to sources familiar with the matter, disputes have arisen over the radical cost-cutting plan proposed by Volkswagen CEO Oliver Blume, with efforts to reach a compromise proving unsuccessful. Representatives from Volkswagen and Lower Saxony held negotiations on Monday and Tuesday, but no results were achieved. No new talks are scheduled before the Supervisory Board meeting on Friday. Management anticipates difficulty in reaching a consensus on the cost-saving plan during this meeting and is preparing to submit the proposal for a vote at an extraordinary shareholders' meeting, which could take place as early as this autumn. Volkswagen declined to comment.
