On September 1, news emerged that Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. had recently entered into a joint development agreement with Honda Motor Co., Ltd. (commonly known as Honda). The collaboration will focus on the joint standardization of multiple electronic control units (ECUs), which serve as the cornerstone for the next generation of software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This effort will encompass crucial components of the in-vehicle operating systems, middleware, and vehicle control software that operate on these ECUs. Leveraging these jointly developed ECUs and software, both companies aim to construct an Electrical/Electronic (E/E) architecture. They plan to progressively integrate this architecture into their respective next-generation SDV models, with implementation slated to commence from the fiscal year 2029 onwards.
