Cumulatively, from January to July, sales totaled 56.11 million vehicles, up by 3% compared to the same period the previous year. It's worth noting that global auto sales had soared to a record high of 96.89 million units in 2025. In terms of automotive production, China's share stood at 35.4% in 2025, dipped to 31.4% in early 2026, and then rebounded to 32.1% by July. The initial decline in China's share was a temporary blip, attributable to a sluggish passenger car market, a robust commercial vehicle market, and a surge in exports. During the first seven months of 2026, the global automotive market exhibited a divergent trend. Auto sales in China and the United States contracted by 4% and 3%, respectively. In contrast, emerging markets like India, Thailand, Russia, and Vietnam witnessed substantial growth, with Vietnam's market skyrocketing by 29%. Moreover, the global standing of Chinese autonomous automotive brands continued to strengthen. Brands such as Geely and BYD expanded their market shares, while most international brands experienced declines.
