On September 1, Cui Dongshu unveiled an in-depth analysis report on the global new energy vehicle (NEV) market covering the period from January to July 2026. According to the report, a total of 56.11 million vehicles were sold worldwide during these seven months. Among them, new energy vehicles made up 13.52 million units, representing a significant 24.1% of the total vehicle sales. A closer look at the data reveals that battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 16.8% of the market share, while plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHEVs) contributed 7.3%. Notably, hybrid vehicles (HEVs), which combine traditional internal combustion engines with electric power, performed exceptionally well, capturing an impressive 8.1% of the market. The global penetration rate of new energy vehicles has been on a swift upward trajectory, soaring from 13.1% in 2022 to 24.1% in 2026. However, the growth of the NEV market is not uniform across countries. Germany leads with a remarkable 32.6% market share for NEVs, while Norway tops the charts with an astonishing 81%. The United Kingdom follows closely behind at 35%. In contrast, the United States and Japan lag behind, with NEV market shares of only 7% and 4%, respectively, highlighting the varying pace of NEV adoption across different regions.
