On August 31st, it was reported that the State Administration for Market Regulation (also known as the Standardization Administration) has recently ratified and published the mandatory national standard, "Overall Dimensions, Axle Loads, and Mass Limits for Automobiles, Trailers, and Vehicle Combinations" (GB1589—2026). This standard is set to take effect on July 1, 2027. The updated standard incorporates specific clauses tailored to intelligent vehicles, notably easing the limitations on the protrusion sizes of components like radars and cameras. This adjustment aims to better accommodate the requirements for vehicle blind spot monitoring and environmental perception in autonomous driving systems.

Regarding the integration of intelligent connected vehicle technology, the standard introduces exemption guidelines for the overall dimensions of sensory and communication devices, including radars, cameras, and V2X antennas. It also relaxes the constraints on partial protrusion sizes to bolster functionalities such as vehicle blind spot monitoring, environmental perception for autonomous driving, vehicle-to-infrastructure coordination, and safety communications beyond the line of sight.

Moreover, the new standard raises the maximum permissible axle load limit per single tire on each side of a single axle for new energy commercial vehicles, increasing it from 7,000 kilograms to 8,000 kilograms.
