At the Physical AI Sharing and Second-Generation VLA New Version Experience Day event, XPENG Motors made a significant announcement: its Robotaxi, powered by the second-generation VLA, has secured the qualification for remote testing of intelligent connected vehicles in Guangzhou. This milestone allows the Robotaxi to conduct road tests without a safety operator occupying the main driving seat on test roads across first, second, and third-tier areas in Guangzhou, marking its entry into the crucial verification phase for autonomous main driving. The upgraded second-generation VLA is designed to support L4-level autonomous driving capabilities and is also compatible with a wider range of mass-produced vehicle models, achieving global applicability. It integrates capabilities from L2 to L4 levels, all built upon a unified technological framework. Leveraging learning-based Token compression and distillation training techniques, XPENG Motors achieves superior visual understanding with fewer effective Tokens, without compromising on input information or model capacity. This enables the deployment of the second-generation VLA foundation model's capabilities on platforms with lower computational power. Following the enhancement of the foundation model's capabilities, the distilled capabilities of the Turing VLA 2.0 Lite have also undergone synchronized enhancement (improved simultaneously).
