On August 26, Tesla China issued a response, clarifying that this was untrue information. Tesla's Shanghai data center has successfully achieved complete data retention within China. Moreover, its AI training center, situated in Lingang, Shanghai, has been in operation since February 2026. This center has been working in tandem with Baidu Maps to utilize compliant high-precision maps. Previously, relevant Tesla models have successfully obtained four automotive data security standard certifications. Recently, Tesla's North American official website updated the list of global regions where the FSD Supervised version is available for subscription, and China was not on that list. However, this only pertains to regions where the 'subscription' service is currently accessible and does not encompass all markets where the FSD Supervised version can actually be utilized. On Tesla's U.S. official website, in the list of regions where the FSD Supervised version is available, China is still featured. Grace Tao, Tesla's Global Vice President, stated in February of this year that Tesla would actively engage in the development of China's autonomous driving sector and that the company has been constantly adapting to the Chinese market.
