In light of the recall involving nearly 3 million Tesla vehicles, Tesla China's official customer service has clarified that the recall process will be divided into two distinct categories, and in all instances, owners will not be obligated to visit stores. Software-related issues will be rectified via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates. This recall encompasses three reference numbers. Specifically, the recall under reference number S2026M0098V pertains to 973,156 domestically manufactured Model 3 vehicles produced from March 4, 2019, to April 29, 2026, as well as 1,956,713 domestically manufactured Model Y vehicles produced from November 16, 2020, to April 30, 2026. For vehicles impacted by the emergency door handle labeling issue, owners have the option to visit a service center during routine maintenance or inspections to obtain and apply complimentary stickers. These stickers are anticipated to reach service centers by the end of September, with a three-year window for application. For vehicles that solely receive a software update notification, owners can simply await the completion of the OTA update.
