On August 23, during the 2026 China Chief Economists Forum on Science and Technology Innovation, which was organized by Fudan School of Management on August 22, Li Bin, the founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO, remarked that this year holds significant importance for new energy vehicles, given the intense competition within the sector. Presently, China's auto industry is transitioning into four distinct new phases: the most ruthless concluding phase, the accelerated adoption rate of pure electric vehicles, the phase where brands evolve from a state of disorder to one of clarity, and the stage where competition evolves from isolated skirmishes to a comprehensive, systemic battle. Li Bin is of the opinion that the forthcoming two years will constitute a pivotal juncture, determining whether automakers can stay abreast of the industry's rapid pace and evade the threat of elimination.
