Audi has teamed up with SAIC Motor to introduce an independent brand, AUDI, tailored specifically for the Chinese market. This collaboration has yielded two all-electric models: the E5 Sportback and the E7X. These vehicles are constructed on 800V and 900V high-voltage architectures, respectively, and boast digital displays and intelligent features. At present, Audi has no intentions of launching these two models in Europe. Yet, Auto China, an independent importer, has already imported some of these vehicles to Germany, where they have started to gain a competitive edge owing to their cost-effectiveness. To mitigate charging concerns, the importer supplies adapters and provides a two-year warranty. Despite these efforts, these models still confront numerous obstacles in the European market, such as a lack of repair expertise, an unreliable supply of spare parts, and doubts regarding the adaptability of their advanced driver-assistance systems. Furthermore, given that these models are intricately linked to China's digital ecosystem through a digital platform co-developed with SAIC, they markedly diverge from the models currently available in Europe, presenting a challenge for the establishment of future service networks.
