On August 18, it was reported that the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance unveiled the monthly data for power batteries for July 2026. According to the data, China's total production of power and energy storage batteries surged to 218.0 GWh in July, marking a 5.8% month-on-month increase and a significant 62.9% year-on-year jump. From January to July of this year, cumulative production soared to 1,286.9 GWh, reflecting a robust 54.9% year-on-year growth.
In terms of sales, the total sales volume of power and energy storage batteries in July reached 185.2 GWh, experiencing a 5.5% month-on-month decline but still achieving a commendable 45.5% year-on-year rise. Specifically, sales of power batteries amounted to 129.1 GWh, constituting 69.7% of the total sales, with a 3.3% month-on-month decrease but a 41.6% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, sales of energy storage batteries stood at 56.1 GWh, accounting for 30.3% of the total sales, suffering a 10.3% month-on-month drop but enjoying a remarkable 55.4% year-on-year surge.
From January to July this year, the cumulative sales of power and energy storage batteries reached 1,164.6 GWh, posting a 48.1% year-on-year increase. Within this figure, cumulative sales of power batteries were 790.4 GWh, representing 67.9% of the total sales and a 37.1% year-on-year rise. Additionally, cumulative sales of energy storage batteries were 374.2 GWh, making up 32.1% of the total sales and experiencing a substantial 78.6% year-on-year growth.
