State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) has successfully developed and put into operation a 100-ton pure electric, two-way, autonomous mining dump truck at a mining site in Inner Mongolia. The truck is outfitted with an advanced autonomous driving system, powered solely by electricity, and incorporates integrated charging and battery-swapping technology, along with semi-solid-state batteries. Additionally, it boasts innovative 4×4 all-wheel steering and a two-way travel design. When compared to diesel trucks of the same tonnage, this electric truck reduces energy consumption costs by 65%, offers a continuous operation time of no less than 6 hours, and maintains an operational availability rate exceeding 85%. These features fully meet the production demands of mining operations. Previously, China has witnessed numerous breakthroughs in the field of electric autonomous mining trucks. For instance, XCMG delivered 100 such vehicles in 2025, SPIC mass-deployed 120-ton models, and Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Group launched the world's first 120-ton pure electric mining dump truck in 2021. The shift towards unmanned and electrified mining operations is being propelled by factors such as an aging workforce, safety concerns, and escalating costs.
