For an extended period, German automakers have been adept at meeting consumer preferences in China by introducing long-wheelbase variants. Last year, Mercedes-Benz specifically launched the all-electric CLA L tailored for the Chinese market. Despite its remarkable energy efficiency, the model did not perform as well as anticipated in terms of market reception. In the first half of this year, only 627 units were delivered across China, with a notable absence of registrations in June. Consequently, Beijing Benz has decided to suspend production of the model, and Mercedes-Benz has yet to issue a statement. The length of the production halt and the possibility of the model being entirely discontinued remain uncertain. While the model excels in battery performance, range, and fast-charging capabilities in European and U.S. markets, these advantages are less pronounced in the Chinese market.
