According to Electrek, accident data submitted by Tesla to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveals that in May 2026, Tesla’s driver-assistance system was involved in 207 crashes—the highest monthly figure ever recorded. This total not only eclipses the 157 accidents reported throughout the entirety of 2021 but also marks a significant escalation in safety concerns. Furthermore, in 2025, Tesla’s advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) was linked to over 1,000 crashes for the first time, with an annual total of 1,043 incidents. By the first half of 2026 alone, the number of crashes had already reached 826, reflecting a staggering 73% increase compared to the same period the previous year.
