On July 22 (U.S. time), LG Energy Solution, a titan in South Korea's battery sector, initiated a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States against EVE Energy, a Chinese lithium-ion battery producer, and concurrently sought import exclusion from the U.S. International Trade Commission. As reported by Yonhap News Agency, the lawsuit encompasses five patents, with four centered around polarity-free technology for cylindrical batteries. This innovative technology facilitates electron movement through electrode plates, thereby boosting output efficiency. The remaining patent is related to battery separators (also known as isolation films). LG Energy Solution asserts that the batteries, which are purported to infringe upon its patents, are already extensively utilized in the U.S. power tool market. On the same day, EVE Energy issued a response, clarifying that it had not yet received official legal documentation and, following a thorough self-assessment, had not identified any instances of patent infringement.
