On July 22, Volkswagen Group China unveiled that its Intelligent Driving Competence Center, CARIZON, is strengthening its partnership with Horizon Robotics. Drawing on Horizon Robotics' foundational AI large model prowess and utilizing a white-box licensing framework, CARIZON will independently craft a unified AI driving solution tailored for Volkswagen's operations in China. This innovative approach will facilitate end-to-end autonomous driving R&D, bolstering the system's proficiency in comprehending and navigating intricate traffic environments. Concurrently, the foundational AI large model will work in tandem with CARIZON's under-development system-on-chip, C7H, and the GAIA world model data platform, fully enabling the realization of L3 and L4 autonomous driving functionalities and establishing a technological bedrock for both passenger vehicles and Robotaxi use cases. Furthermore, this intelligent driving technology suite will be seamlessly integrated with the CEA architecture, Volkswagen Group's pioneering region-control electronic and electrical architecture conceived and developed in China, ensuring agile adaptability across various vehicle platforms. Presently, CARIZON's inaugural advanced driver-assistance system has been rolled out and integrated into the ID.7 and the new ID.6 models. The comprehensive advanced driver-assistance solution has transitioned into mass production and will be progressively fitted onto seven new electrified models from Volkswagen Group's three Chinese joint ventures, commencing in the third quarter of this year. Volkswagen Group's maiden L3 autonomous driving solution is anticipated to begin delivery as early as the latter half of 2027.
