Tesla CEO Elon Musk pointed out in a conference call with analysts that the Optimus robot could be the most challenging among Tesla's products when it comes to scaling up production. Musk stated that all components of the robot are newly designed. Unlike electric vehicles, for which Tesla can procure specific parts such as wheels, side mirrors, and windshields from existing suppliers, the Optimus robot has no ready-made supply chain, and all components need to be manufactured in-house. Therefore, the initial phase of scaling up Optimus production will be relatively gradual and lengthy.
