Xiaomi Automobile has recently stepped forward to refute rumors swirling around its yet-to-be-released new car model, the SkyNomad Pengcheng, which has been plagued by a wave of misinformation. The company clarified that the model is currently in the pre-launch promotional phase; however, despite this, misleading search suggestions and AI-generated counterfeit videos have surfaced online, all lacking any factual foundation. In response, Xiaomi has lodged compliance complaints with several major platforms. Industry experts have noted that such rumor-spreading tactics display novel characteristics of online defamation, fueled by advancements in AI technology. The special campaign initiated by the Cyberspace Administration of China in April of this year has specifically identified the utilization of AI to fabricate and disseminate false information as a critical area requiring correction.
