On Independence Day in San Francisco, Waymo is currently looking into a series of incidents where its self-driving taxis ran over fireworks. In one case, a vehicle caught fire after running over small fireworks, and another vehicle drove over fireworks that had been set off illegally. Fortunately, neither of these incidents caused any injuries, and the affected vehicles have since been taken care of. Due to the heavy traffic on that day, some of Waymo's operational services were temporarily disrupted.
