On July 3, officials from three key departments addressed reporters' inquiries concerning the adjustment of preferential policies for vehicle and vessel tax on energy-saving and new energy vehicles. As stipulated in the Vehicle and Vessel Tax Law of the People's Republic of China, pure electric passenger cars and fuel cell passenger cars are exempt from vehicle and vessel tax. However, it is important to note that starting from January 1, 2027, pure electric commercial vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles (including extended-range models), fuel cell commercial vehicles, and energy-saving vehicles purchased by taxpayers prior to the policy's implementation will no longer qualify for tax exemptions. These vehicles will be subject to vehicle and vessel tax in accordance with regulatory requirements.
