In the Global Electric Vehicle Outlook 2026 report released by the International Energy Agency (IEA), it is predicted that by 2026, global electric vehicle sales will soar to 23 million units, constituting nearly 30% of all new vehicle sales. This marks a significant leap from the mere 5% share they held five to six years prior. Looking at regional specifics, the European market is anticipated to witness a 20% increase in electric vehicle sales. Meanwhile, countries in the Asia-Pacific region, excluding China, are expected to see their sales surge by over 50%, and Latin America is projected to experience a 45% rise. Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the IEA, remarked that the global electric vehicle market is stepping into a new era characterized by accelerated growth.
