On July 1, the International Energy Agency (IEA) predicted in its Global Electric Vehicle Outlook 2026 report that global electric vehicle sales will reach 23 million units in 2026, accounting for nearly 30% of new vehicle sales, compared to just around 5% five to six years ago. Specifically, electric vehicle sales in the European market are expected to grow by 20%; sales in countries in the Asia-Pacific region excluding China are expected to increase by more than 50%; and sales in Latin America are projected to grow by 45%. Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the IEA, stated that the global electric vehicle market is entering a new phase of accelerated growth.
