Honda has unveiled its financial statement for the fiscal year 2025, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026, revealing a net loss of 423.9 billion yen (equivalent to roughly 18.2 billion yuan), a staggering 150.72% decrease compared to the previous year. This represents Honda's first annual loss in 69 years, dating back to its listing in 1957. The main factor contributing to this loss is the strategic realignment of its pure electric vehicle (EV) operations, which involved scrapping the development and launch plans for three pure EV models in North America. Consequently, this led to sunk costs from associated investments, coupled with expenses for fixed asset write-downs and compensation for breaching supplier agreements. Nevertheless, Honda anticipates a resurgence to profitability in fiscal year 2026, with an estimated net profit of 260 billion yen.
