On June 10, data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers revealed that in May 2026, China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) market exhibited signs of a robust recovery. Production and sales volumes for the month reached 1.554 million and 1.496 million units, respectively, marking year-on-year increases of 22.4% and 14.4%. Notably, NEVs accounted for a substantial 56.9% of total new vehicle sales during this period. In comparison, the overall automobile industry also showed signs of improvement, with total production and sales volumes reaching 2.616 million and 2.629 million units, respectively. These figures reflect month-on-month growth and a reduction in the year-on-year decline. For the first five months of the year, cumulative automobile production and sales volumes stood at 12.235 million and 12.207 million units, respectively. Within this timeframe, NEV production and sales volumes reached 5.841 million and 5.802 million units, demonstrating year-on-year growth of 2.5% and 3.5%, respectively.
