Apple announced at WWDC 2026 that CarPlay, updated with iOS 27, will receive significant upgrades. New features include the ability to watch videos on the car's screen via AirPlay when the vehicle is stationary, and developers are allowed to create video-based CarPlay apps. Additionally, it integrates a smarter Siri AI, requiring iPhone 15 Pro or later models for use. Furthermore, the navigation and audio experiences have also been improved, such as audio progress dragging and enhanced GPS positioning accuracy. All new features require an upgrade to iOS 27, with a beta version already available and the official release planned for September.
