In February, Chinese automakers sold 25,800 vehicles in Australia, surpassing Japanese brands for the first time. By March, the gap widened further, with Chinese vehicle sales reaching 31,000 units—a remarkable 45.1% year-on-year surge. Imports from Chinese manufacturers, particularly BYD, soared to an all-time high, with BYD’s Australian sales climbing to second place overall in April.
