By 2026, propelled by soaring demand for electric vehicles, China has overtaken Japan as Australia’s largest supplier of automobiles. In February, Chinese automakers sold 25,800 vehicles in Australia, surpassing Japanese brands for the first time. By March, the gap widened further, with Chinese vehicle sales reaching 31,000 units—a remarkable 45.1% year-on-year surge.
