On June 3, Nissan Motor announced that it had inked a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Chery International UK. This agreement outlines plans to delve into a collaborative framework for manufacturing Chery-branded passenger vehicles at Nissan's Sunderland plant in the United Kingdom. Production is slated to kick off as early as the fiscal year 2027. As per the memorandum, Nissan will retain full ownership of the Sunderland plant, and the existing plant team will continue to operate without any alterations. Nissan has expressed its eagerness to work closely with Chery International UK in the upcoming months to fine-tune and finalize the most suitable plan.
