On Thursday, Toyota Motor Corporation revealed that its global vehicle sales experienced a decline for the third consecutive month in April. The sales dropped by 3.1% year-on-year, reaching a total of 849,306 units. This downturn was primarily fueled by notable sales slumps in the Chinese and Middle Eastern markets. Specifically, overseas sales witnessed a 7.5% decrease. In contrast, domestic sales within Japan exhibited a robust 24.2% growth, a rebound largely ascribed to the postponement of car purchases stemming from adjustments in environmental tax policies—a common practice in Japan where tax incentives or changes can significantly influence consumer purchasing behavior.
