On May 18, 2026, XPENG Motors proudly announced that its first fully in-house-developed, factory-installed, mass-produced Robotaxi vehicle rolled off the assembly line in Guangzhou. Built upon the XPENG GX platform, this vehicle represents China's pioneering achievement in fully self-developed, factory-installed, mass-produced L4-level Robotaxis. It also marks the nation's first model to attain L4-level autonomous driving through a pure vision-based approach. The vehicle is powered by four in-house-developed Turing AI chips, offering an impressive computing capacity of 3000TOPS. Notably, it operates independently of high-definition maps and LiDAR technology, with system response times under 80 milliseconds, enabling seamless cross-city deployment. The vehicle incorporates dual-redundancy safety mechanisms across six critical systems, including computing power and braking. XPENG Motors is set to initiate demonstration operations in the latter half of this year.
