Chery Automobile is teaming up with Japanese enterprise Autobacs, along with other partners, to strategize the sales of Chinese-manufactured pure electric vehicles in Japan. Autobacs boasts around 1,200 retail outlets across Japan, with its business scope encompassing the sale of new cars. Jiangsu Yueda Automobile Group, Gotion High-Tech, Anest Iwata, and additional collaborators have also joined forces in this venture. The parties involved have set up a joint venture in Singapore, aiming to market electric vehicles under a Japanese brand name through its EMT brand. The EMT development team comprises technical experts from automakers like Honda and Mazda. The inaugural pure electric vehicle, anticipated to be delivered in Japan in 2027, will feature advanced driving assistance capabilities. It will be manufactured at Yueda's production facility in China and priced competitively. By 2029, there are intentions to roll out four models and contemplate overseas expansion, as well as investigate the feasibility of local production in Japan post-2030. The newly formed company will capitalize on Autobacs' extensive store network to establish several hundred sales and service centers in its inaugural year.
