On May 4, 2026, Tesla officially kicked off the construction of its latest innovation—the Basecharger, a fast-charging station specifically engineered for electric heavy-duty trucks. While it bears a resemblance to Tesla's fourth-generation Supercharger in terms of outward appearance, its internal architecture has been meticulously crafted to cater to the unique demands of electric truck depots. The Basecharger is a powerhouse, boasting a maximum output power of 125 kilowatts. This impressive capability allows the Tesla Semi to charge up to 60% of its battery capacity in a mere 4 hours. One of its standout features is the integrated power module, which does away with the necessity for an external power cabinet. Additionally, it supports the connection of three units to a single circuit breaker, significantly slashing deployment costs. Priced at $20,000 (approximately RMB 137,000), the Basecharger is available for bulk orders only. It is designed to work exclusively with MCS connectors and is slated for delivery in early 2027. This launch represents Tesla's second foray into truck-specific charging solutions, following the introduction of the 1.2-megawatt Megacharger.
