On April 30, Changan Qiyuan made an announcement: owing to a substantial surge in the global cost of automotive-grade chips, the official guide price for the Changan Qiyuan Q07 Tian Shu Intelligent Laser Edition vehicles, which are set to be manufactured starting from May 7, 2026, will see an increase of RMB 3,000. Nevertheless, vehicles produced prior to 0:00 on May 7 will continue to be sold at their original prices. Previously, BYD also released a notice, indicating that due to a significant rise in the global cost of storage hardware, the optional price for the Tian Shen Zhi Yan B assisted driving laser version of some of its models would go up from RMB 9,900 to RMB 12,000, marking an increase of RMB 2,100. This price adjustment will come into effect on May 1, and customers who have paid a deposit on or before April 30 will remain unaffected. William Li, the founder of NIO, has also expressed that the hike in memory prices could potentially result in a cost increase ranging from RMB 3,000 to RMB 5,000 for high-end new energy vehicle models.
