Today, E Ink Holdings proudly announced that the BMW iX3 Flow Edition, featuring E Ink Prism™ technology, made its much-anticipated public debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show. This marks a historic moment as it becomes the world's first mass-produced car model to incorporate this cutting-edge technology, officially ushering in the era of electronic paper vehicle body technology for practical use. E Ink's innovative electrophoretic electronic paper technology harnesses millions of microcapsules filled with charged particles. These particles rearrange themselves under the influence of an electric field, creating a myriad of visual effects on the surface. When applied to automotive exteriors, this technology enables dynamic changes in the vehicle's appearance while consuming minimal energy, as power is only required during image transitions. The BMW iX3 Flow Edition stands out as the first vehicle to seamlessly integrate E Ink electronic paper technology into its exterior, embedding it within the hood structure. The core design boasts eight animated effects, empowering drivers to personalize their vehicle's appearance according to their mood, personality, and driving context, adding a new dimension to the automotive experience.
