On April 17th, reports emerged that Audi and SAIC Motor are set to deepen their strategic partnership by co-investing in the creation of an independent joint venture entity, named the 'Audi Technology Innovation Center.' This new venture will be tasked with driving technological innovation forward. According to insiders with knowledge of the situation, the organizational framework of this new company will mirror that of Volkswagen Group's Volkswagen Technology (China) Co., Ltd., which has already been established in China. The emphasis will be on research and development, as well as product definition, while leveraging SAIC Volkswagen's established sales network for distribution channels. In a move to preserve team cohesion, the entire original R&D and product divisions of SAIC Audi will be transferred to the new company. Sources have revealed that the Audi Technology Innovation Center is anticipated to commence its expansion efforts in the latter half of this year, potentially seeking new talent from the broader market, with a particular focus on attracting experts in software development, the three electric systems (comprising batteries, electric motors, and electronic control), and intelligent driving technologies. This fresh Sino-German joint venture is poised to enter a phase of substantive operations.
