The 'Ningyuan Diankun', the world's largest and China's inaugural 10,000-ton fully electric intelligent container ship, has commenced its maiden commercial voyage, setting sail from the Beilun Port Area of Ningbo Zhoushan Port, heading towards the Zhapu Port Area of Jiaxing Port. Constructed by Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd., this colossal vessel spans 127.8 meters in length and 21.6 meters in width, boasting a carrying capacity of 742 standard containers.
At its heart, the ship is powered by 10 standardized container-type batteries, collectively offering a substantial storage capacity of around 20,000 kilowatt-hours. It is projected that once fully operational, the vessel will achieve annual fuel savings of approximately 580 tonnes and curtail carbon dioxide emissions by over 1,400 tonnes, marking a significant stride towards sustainable maritime transportation.
