On April 11, the High-Level Forum on the Development of Intelligent Electric Vehicles (2026) took place. Su Bo, Deputy Director of the Strategic Advisory Committee for Building a Strong Manufacturing Nation and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), highlighted that the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector is confronted with a myriad of challenges. These include rapid technological advancements accompanied by deficiencies in core technologies; escalating global competition, which presents fresh hurdles for industrial development and security; a lack of resilience in the industrial and supply chains, with a heavy reliance on imports for critical components like chips and power batteries, thereby posing supply risks; and an irregular market competition landscape, underscoring the pressing need for improvements in the governance system.
