South Korea's Kia Corp announced on Thursday that it plans to invest 49 trillion won (approximately $33 billion) in facilities and research and development by 2030 to solidify its position in the future mobility sector. The company stated that the investment amount from 2026 to 2030 will increase by 7 trillion won compared to the previous five-year plan, with 43% of it earmarked for electrification, autonomous driving, and robotics technologies. Kia also plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup from 11 models in 2026 to 14 models by 2030, aiming for global electric vehicle sales of 1 million units, despite a slowdown in industry growth.
