On March 24, the State Administration for Market Regulation disclosed that BMW Brilliance and BMW (China) have submitted a recall proposal encompassing 179,527 vehicles. This recall spans various locally manufactured and imported models, specifically including 133,849 units of certain locally produced 5 Series cars produced between December 5, 2023, and April 12, 2025; 8,978 units of certain imported 5 Series vehicles manufactured from October 17, 2023, to April 8, 2025; 36,527 units of certain imported 7 Series vehicles made from June 9, 2022, to April 3, 2025; and 173 units of certain imported M5 cars built from July 4, 2024, to April 2, 2025. The root cause of the recall lies in the incorrect routing of the front cabin air conditioning wiring harness. This flaw could lead to damage when the air filter element is replaced post-purchase, thereby presenting a potential fire hazard under extreme circumstances. BMW Brilliance and BMW (China) will conduct free inspections and re-secure the wiring harnesses for the affected vehicles, replacing them if they are found to be damaged.
