The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has escalated its investigation into Tesla's 'Full Self-Driving' (FSD) system, focusing on potential safety defects under low-visibility conditions such as heavy fog and intense light. The investigation covers approximately 3.2 million Tesla models equipped with FSD, including the Model S, X, 3, Y, and Cybertruck. The NHTSA noted that when visibility is obstructed, the FSD system may fail to promptly identify road obstacles and alert drivers, leading to multiple collision incidents, including one fatal crash.
