BMW (China) Automotive Trading Ltd. has filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation. Starting from March 16, 2026, it will recall certain imported BMW 2 Series, 4 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X4, X5, X6, and Z4 series vehicles produced from July 31, 2020, to December 22, 2022, totaling 147,830 units. The recall is due to a manufacturing defect in the starter motor, which may experience abnormal wear after multiple starts, leading to difficulties in starting. In extreme cases, this may cause short circuits, local overheating, and a risk of fire. BMW will replace the recalled vehicles' starter motors with improved ones free of charge.
