On March 11th, reports surfaced indicating that Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. had officially filed a recall proposal with the State Administration for Market Regulation. This action was taken in strict compliance with the 'Regulations on the Recall Management of Defective Automotive Products' and its corresponding enforcement guidelines, bearing the recall identification code S2026M0028V. The recall, which commences immediately, targets a specific batch of imported TOYOTA SUPRA 2.0T vehicles manufactured between March 2, 2021, and September 29, 2022, encompassing a total of 40 units.

The root cause of this recall lies in a manufacturing defect affecting the starter motor. Following repeated use, the starter motor may undergo abnormal internal wear, resulting in challenges when attempting to start the vehicle. In severe scenarios, this defect has the potential to induce a short circuit, localized overheating, and consequently, an elevated risk of fire.
