Recently, spy shots of Volkswagen’s entirely new Tiguan R undergoing road testing have surfaced. The rear of this new model showcases a dual-exhaust system with four outlets on each side, clearly marking its high-performance SUV status. Anticipations are high that the vehicle will be powered by the same EA888 Evo4 2.0T engine found in the Golf R, capable of producing a maximum power output of 329 horsepower and a peak torque of 420 Nm. This engine will be mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, potentially enabling the Tiguan R to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under 6 seconds.
The exterior design maintains the Tiguan R-Line aesthetic, featuring a bold front grille adorned with thick chrome accents and a trapezoidal air intake. The sides of the vehicle boast a full black finish and oversized brake calipers, while the wheels have been upgraded to 20-inch cyclone-style rims. Additionally, new personalized paint options, such as avocado green, are available to cater to diverse tastes.
Inside, the Tiguan R is equipped with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch rotating central touchscreen, which supports wireless CarPlay. The chassis has undergone sport-tuned adjustments to strike a perfect balance between everyday comfort and track-ready performance.
