According to Electrek, Tesla has lodged a formal objection with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) against the trademark registration of 'Cybercab' by the French beverage company Unibev. In its filing, Tesla outlined five key objections, accusing Unibev of unethical practices, including fraudulent conduct. The dispute stems from Tesla's failure to promptly register the 'Cybercab' trademark following its announcement in October 2024. In contrast, Unibev submitted its trademark application earlier, on October 28 of the same year. Given the 'first-to-file' principle governing trademark registration, Unibev currently holds the priority claim. As it stands, Tesla has not yet secured the legal rights to the 'Cybercab' name for its model, with less than two months remaining until the planned commencement of mass production. To address this issue, Tesla has applied for alternative names, 'Cybercar' and 'Cybervehicle', though both come with their own set of limitations.
