On February 15, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla will discontinue one-time payment sales of its 'Full Self-Driving' (FSD) assistance system and fully adopt a monthly subscription model after February 14. Previously, Tesla offered two options: a one-time purchase for $8,000 or a monthly subscription for $99. Musk did not specify the reason for the adjustment, but his compensation is tied to business growth. According to the compensation plan approved by shareholders in November last year, Tesla must achieve goals including 10 million FSD subscribers for Musk to receive additional stock awards. Additionally, the deadline for one-time purchases in Australia has been extended to March 31.
