In a podcast interview, Musk revealed that Apple had vigorously recruited Tesla engineers for its canceled electric vehicle project. He stated that Apple frequently called Tesla employees and even offered salaries double that of Tesla's without interviews. By 2019, Apple had poached over 300 people from Tesla, including key engineers responsible for ramping up Model 3 production. Musk said that at the time, it was widely believed that simply poaching executives from Tesla would ensure the success of a car-building project. He himself had also thought that bringing in talent from Google or Apple would smoothly advance the project, but that was not the case.
