Charging piles at highway service areas come with a heftier price tag compared to their urban supercharging counterparts. A number of electric vehicle (EV) owners have reported that even a 100-yuan bill is insufficient to fully recharge their cars at these highway pit stops. Take, for instance, the charging screen shared by one EV owner: it reveals that after spending 72.23 yuan at a rate of 1.8 yuan per kilowatt-hour (kWh), the vehicle's battery has only reached 84% charge, with an additional 40.13 kWh pumped in.
