In a recent article, Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), revealed that global auto sales hit 8.86 million vehicles in December 2025, marking a 2% year-on-year increase. However, the growth rate of global auto sales saw a slight deceleration that month, influenced by the sluggish automotive market expansion in both China and the United States. Throughout 2025, global auto sales climbed to a total of 96.47 million units, reflecting a 5% year-on-year surge.

Breaking down the sales by region, China led the pack with 34.35 million units sold, a notable 9% increase. The United States followed with 16.72 million units, up by 1%. India's auto market also showed promise, with sales reaching 5.58 million units, a 7% rise. Japan and Germany recorded sales of 4.56 million and 3.16 million units, respectively, with increases of 3% and 1%. Notably, China's share of the global auto market continued its upward trajectory, peaking at 40% in November and maintaining a robust 37% in December.
