Four sources with inside knowledge of the situation have revealed that Ford Motor is currently engaged in discussions with Xiaomi about potential collaboration. Such cooperation could pave the way for Xiaomi to make its entry into the U.S. market. Moreover, the two companies have been exploring the option of setting up a joint venture aimed at manufacturing electric vehicles within the United States. In addition to its talks with Xiaomi, Ford has also been in contact with other Chinese automakers, including BYD. However, reports concerning these interactions have been found to lack a solid factual foundation. As of the time this article went to press, Xiaomi had not issued any response, while BYD chose not to provide any comments. Ford's CEO, Farley, has openly expressed his admiration for Chinese electric vehicles. He has also cautioned that Chinese competitors represent a significant threat to Western automakers. Earlier, Ford secured a technology licensing agreement with CATL. With the ongoing overseas expansion of Chinese automakers like BYD, coupled with related remarks from Trump and Geely's indication of its intention to enter the U.S. market, it appears that Chinese automakers are steadily inching closer to the U.S. market. Geely has stated that it is still keeping a close watch on opportunities within the North American market.
