XPENG Motors Chairman He Xiaopeng revealed that the electrical and electronic architecture, a product of the collaborative efforts between XPENG and Volkswagen, has been successfully put into use. The first model featuring this architecture, the “ZONA 07,” has officially commenced production. This achievement marks a significant milestone following the signing of a joint development agreement for technical strategic cooperation by the two entities in July 2024.

The partnership between the two companies kicked off with Volkswagen's strategic investment in July 2023. Remarkably, it took just around 18 months for the first collaborative model to materialize. At the heart of this partnership lies the joint development of an electrical and electronic architecture. Initially earmarked for Volkswagen's pure electric models in China, the scope of cooperation has since been broadened. Starting from August 2025, it will encompass fuel and plug-in hybrid models as well. The “ZONA 07” is a mid-sized pure electric sedan produced under the Volkswagen Anhui brand.
